London (CNSNews.com) - A British woman with kidney
failure was kept alive throughout her pregnancy by her unborn
baby whose kidneys worked for both of them. A London newspaper reports
Friday that 42-year-old Carol Davies became pregnant last year
after trying unsuccessfully for 15 years. She's suffered kidney
failure since 1978. Twelve weeks into the pregnancy, baby Owen's
kidneys began working to clean his blood and help his mother, who is
on dialysis. "I was terrified that the toxins in my body would be
too much for him and I would lose him as I did my first child four
years ago," she was quoted as saying. "But the doctors
monitored my dialysis and, despite being premature, Owen is perfect.
We are so lucky."
